Former Kano State governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Inuwa Waya, has lauded the efforts of the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, particularly in the northern region.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Waya praised Abubakar’s strategic approach, noting that the ministry has adopted innovative measures to tackle insurgency and restore security in areas previously plagued by violence.Waya pointed to the notorious Abuja-Kaduna road as a symbol of the ministry’s recent success.
“The Abuja-Kaduna road, once seen as a death zone, has seen remarkable changes. People can now travel without the fear of attacks or kidnappings.”
He attributed this improvement to the ministry’s close coordination with various security agencies, as well as Badaru Abubakar’s hands-on approach in addressing insecurity on one of Nigeria’s critical transportation corridors.
The former aspirant emphasized that Abubakar’s deep-rooted experience and strong track record in public service and private sector have equipped him to handle the complex issues facing Nigeria’s defense sector.
“The minister brings a wealth of experience and a history of effective governance. His collaborative style, along with his understanding of the security landscape, has played a major role in achieving these gains,” Waya noted.
Waya also applauded the defense ministry’s broader initiatives to adopt new security frameworks and technologies, aimed at combating insurgency and criminal networks in the region.
These frameworks, according to him, reflect an innovative approach to national security, signaling a shift in Nigeria’s efforts to address terrorism, banditry, and organized crime.Inuwa Waya urged Nigerians to extend patience and support to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, acknowledging the challenges it inherited.
“This government took over at a time when our nation was in deep crisis, economically, socially, and security-wise. We must give President Tinubu the time he needs to turn things around.”
Reflecting on Tinubu’s first year in office, Waya expressed optimism that the administration’s policies, including its security initiatives, would lead to substantial improvements.
“Rebuilding a country does not happen overnight. I am confident that with more time, this administration’s plans and policies will bring long-term peace and development to Nigeria,” he added.
Waya concluded by calling on citizens to actively support the government’s efforts, particularly in security, by cooperating with authorities and remaining vigilant.
