The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, the country’s senior men’s national football team.

The announcement was made early Tuesday morning through an official tweet on the NFF’s X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The NFF’s statement read, “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.”

According to Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary of the NFF, the decision to appoint Labbadia was approved by the NFF Executive Committee following a recommendation from the Technical and Development sub-committee.

Labbadia now becomes the 37th coach to lead the Super Eagles, succeeding former coach Finidi George, who recently resigned from his position.

Labbadia’s appointment marks a new chapter for Nigerian football, as the experienced German tactician brings a wealth of experience from his coaching career in the Bundesliga, where he has managed several top clubs.

Nigerian football fans and stakeholders will be watching closely to see how Labbadia shapes the future of the Super Eagles as they prepare for upcoming international competitions.
